The public boat service connects the major towns along the shores of Lake Como. Navigazione Laghi, the operating company, has a fleet consisting of several types of boats, each with its routes. Lake Como ferry prices depend on the destination and type of ferry.

On Lake Como, travelers can choose between five main types of ferries. Car ferries carry vehicles and passengers across central routes like Varenna–Bellagio–Menaggio. Passenger ferries are ideal for foot travelers, offering regular connections between lakeside towns. For a faster journey, the hydrofoils (aliscafo) speed between Como, Varenna, and Bellagio, while the traditional slow boats provide a leisurely, scenic trip with multiple stops. For a private and flexible option, water taxis and boat tours are available, often used for weddings, proposals, or custom lake cruises.

Ferry tickets can be bought at the ticket office near the dock. In case there is no ticket office in the town, you can also purchase tickets for the ferry on Lake Como on board.

In the central part of Lake Como, ferries connect the following cities: Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Cadenabbia.
