Sotheby’s Brings Jewellery Weekend to Lake Como

Lake Como has spent the last decade quietly building a reputation as one of Europe’s more understated luxury destinations — a place where fashion houses stage runway shows, where design brands host previews away from the noise of Milan, and where, increasingly, the worlds of art and collecting have found a natural home. This August, that circle widens to take in high jewellery.

On 1 and 2 August, Sotheby’s brings its jewellery expertise to the lake for the first Lake Como Jewellery Weekend, a two-day programme of talks, masterclasses and complimentary valuations aimed at collectors and the simply curious alike. It is a rare instance of a major auction house choosing Como not as a backdrop for a one-off sale, but as the setting for something closer to a public conversation about the craft and culture of jewellery itself.

Leading the programme is Frank Everett, Sotheby’s Vice Chairman of Jewellery, together with Sara Miconi, who heads the auction house’s jewellery department in Italy. They will be joined by Sarah Narici, founder of the label DYNE, and Lynn Yaeger, the fashion journalist known for decades of writing on style and the industry that surrounds it. Between them, the sessions promise to trace how high jewellery is read today — as craftsmanship, as collectible, and as a form of personal expression that sits somewhat apart from the rest of the luxury market.

The weekend also extends a relationship that began last year, when Sotheby’s and Marriott International’s Luxury Group — of which EDITION Hotels is part — collaborated during New York Luxury Week. The two organisations have partnered globally since 2024, and Como represents the next chapter of that arrangement, following the auction house’s pattern of pairing its expertise with distinctive settings rather than conventional saleroom spaces.

For those on the lake this summer, the events will take place at The Lake Como EDITION in Cadenabbia.
