CHANEL Brings Cinematic Glamour to Lake Como
On 29 April 2025, CHANEL unveiled its Cruise 2025/26 collection against the impossibly glamorous backdrop of Villa d’Este, casting Lake Como once more in its rightful role as a destination of enduring cultural cachet and sartorial influence.
Perched on the edge of Cernobbio, the legendary villa—long a symbol of Italian elegance—was transformed for one day into a stage where fashion met fantasy. Bathed in the golden glow of Lake Como’s springtime light, CHANEL presented a collection steeped in cinematic allure, drawing inspiration from the golden age of Hollywood with a distinctly modern gaze.
The silhouettes were unapologetically glamorous: sweeping taffeta gowns, sequins, lamé, and opera-length gloves evoked the kind of red-carpet reverie found in old studio backlots. Backless jumpsuits and dramatic capes introduced a note of nonchalance—carefree elegance laced with a spirit of celebration and timeless poise.
The terrace of Villa d’Este shimmered with A-list presence. Lupita Nyong’o, Keira Knightley, Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola, Margaret Qualley, Anna Mouglalis, and Valentina Bellè joined a constellation of global talent including Nana Komatsu, Ananya Panday, Fala Chen, and Caroline de Maigret—all gathered to honour the House in a setting worthy of the silver screen.
Captured by Greg Williams, the show was more than a visual triumph—it was a cultural marker. With a teaser film by Sofia Coppola, the presentation was broadcast around the world, turning the villa’s timeless grandeur into a backdrop for a new kind of storytelling—one that blurs the line between fashion and cinema.
The show’s resonance was unmistakable. Cernobbio drew a global cohort of industry figures—from designers and editors to artists and cultural commentators—while a digital audience in the millions followed along in real time across platforms. For a day, Lake Como stepped into the global spotlight not merely as a backdrop, but as a defining element of the narrative.
As the fashion world turns toward a new season, CHANEL’s Cruise 2025/26 presentation will stand as a defining moment—where historical setting, cinematic styling, and modern elegance converged to reaffirm the brand’s mastery of storytelling through place.
Long favoured by the fashion industry, Lake Como has served as a location for campaigns, catwalks, and editorial shoots for years. From Dolce & Gabbana’s opulent Alta Moda presentations to Versace’s high-profile productions, the region’s cinematic beauty and timeless elegance continue to inspire some of fashion’s most iconic moments.
