The Rose Contest, founded by Grandma Pupa, the creator of the Valley Garden in Cernobbio, is back and will be held this Sunday afternoon, May 12th!
The 2024 edition of the floral contest “The Most Beautiful and Most Fragrant Garden Roses,” is organized by the “Il Giardino della Valle” Association in collaboration with Società Ortofloricola Comense, and sponsored and supported by the municipality of the City of Cernobbio.
Starting from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., all who wish can present garden rose specimens (cut) for registration at the Via Plinio (entrance of the Valley Garden in Cernobbio).
All participants will be able not only to admire roses but also to vote (popular jury). The public’s choice will be followed by expert voting (popular jury and expert jury), and the winners will be announced during the award ceremony at 5 p.m.
In case of bad weather, the event will be held in the Centro Civico of Piazza Santo Stefano in Cernobbio.
“Il Giardino Della Valle” is a non-profit, apolitical, non-denominational association whose objective is to ensure the preservation, maintenance and improvement of “Il Giardino della Valle.”
The idea of creating a garden from an illegal landfill site located in the valley along the boundary wall of Villa d’Este in Cernobbio came to Mrs. Pupa Frati, affectionately called Grandma Pupa.
After many years of daily commitment and tangible passion for nature, The Garden of the Valley has become an ‘oasis of tranquillity and reflection, a tribute to nature respected and cared for, a meeting place for children, teenagers, adults, the elderly, painters, photographers, musicians and poets’.
