Michelin Guide 2020: Another Restaurant on Lake Como Gets a Star
On November 6, 2019, the presentation of the 65th gastronomic edition of the Michelin Guide to Italy was held at the city theatre in Piacenza.
Of the 30 stars awarded, one Michelin star went to the restaurant L’aria, located on Lake Como at the Mandarin Oriental hotel. This award for talent, creativity, and improvement of dishes has become a special pride for the restaurant since it opened just a few months ago.
Lombardy is ahead of other regions of Italy in the number of “star” restaurants. The number of Michelin-starred restaurants on Lake Como increased to seven.
For the restaurant’s chef, Vincenzo Guarino, this is not the first star. In 2012, under his leadership, the Michelin star was awarded to the restaurant L’accanto at the Grand Hotel Angiolieri in Campania, and in November 2016 – the restaurant Il Pievano nel Castello di Spaltenna in Tuscany. Since February 2019, Vincenzo Guarino and his creative team have been patronizing the restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the cafe CO.MO Bar & Bistrot. The restaurant’s menu is based on Mediterranean cuisine, in which the chef combines classic and modern vision.
