  • October 12, 2024 19:00 - January 10, 2025 19:00

The town of Brunate proudly announces the return of its beloved “Concerts at Sunset” series. This enchanting event offers a mesmerising blend of live music set against the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Como at sunset.
The “Concerts at Sunset” series provides a rare opportunity to experience world-class music in a truly stunning setting. From jazz to baroque and modern classical, the programme promises something for every taste.

The series will begin on 12 October 2024 and run through January 2025. It will feature an array of performances designed to captivate music enthusiasts.

Brunate Concerts at Sunset Programme

The concerts will primarily be held at the Brunate Public Library Auditorium, showcasing an eclectic range of musical genres. The series will open on 12 October with Musiche dal ’900 e Colonne Sonore, performed by the Duo Ughetti—Magda and Emanuela Ughetti—on violin and piano. This duo will take the audience through 20th-century classical music and iconic film scores, featuring works by composers such as Gabriel Fauré, Ottorino Respighi, John Williams, and Ennio Morricone.

This promises to be a captivating evening, blending classical refinement with the drama of cinematic scores.
On 26 October, jazz pianist Carlo Uboldi will grace the stage with his concert “E se tutto fosse jazz?” (What if Everything Were Jazz?), filling the air with infectious rhythms and swing. Uboldi’s vibrant style and inventive interpretations of jazz standards are sure to infuse the evening with irresistible energy.

In November, the focus turns to classical masterpieces. On 9 November, Paolo Beschi will perform J.S. Bach’s Cello Suites, a cornerstone of the cello repertoire. Beschi’s mastery of baroque music will enthral the audience with his interpretation of these timeless works. Then, on 23 November, students from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Como, led by pianist Daniela Manusardi, will perform Les Préludes by Claude Debussy. This concert offers a fresh interpretation of Debussy’s impressionistic compositions, highlighting the talents of emerging musicians.

The series will conclude in January 2025 with a special organ recital at the Church of St Andrew. Don Nicholas Negrini and Riccardo Quadri will present a sacred music programme, closing the series with a deeply spiritual and moving musical experience.

Music with Lake Como as a Backdrop: A Perfect Pairing

One of the defining features of the “Concerts at Sunset” series is its extraordinary setting. Perched high above Lake Como, Brunate offers spectacular views that perfectly complement the musical performances. As the sun sets over the lake, audiences will be treated to an unforgettable experience where music and nature unite in perfect harmony. Local cultural leaders have emphasised the importance of these concerts in enriching Brunate’s cultural landscape and attracting visitors to this picturesque town.
