Villa Pliniana: A Hidden Gem of Lake Como
Villa Pliniana is a historic and luxurious villa located on Lake Como’s shores in Torno, Italy. Built in the 16th century, it boasts stunning Renaissance architecture, a private dock, a beautifully landscaped park, and breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains. With luxurious accommodations, world-class amenities, and impeccable service, Villa Pliniana is the perfect destination for those seeking an unforgettable vacation experience in one of Italy’s most beautiful and exclusive locations.
Villa Pliniana is located in an isolated area near Torno. It is surrounded by dense vegetation and nestled in rock. Very close to the Villa, the stream plunges into Lake Como after a drop of seventy metres. The building is anchored to the rock.
Villa Pliniana has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration and has been updated to higher contemporary standards while retaining the charm and historic look of the original design.
Patricia Urquiola, the designer of the sister property Il Sereno, also redesigned some of the interiors of Villa Pliniana.
The loggia that offers a magnificent view of Lake Como separates the ground floor into two distinct parts, two large rooms, the reception, billiard room, dining room and kitchen.
A Neptune statue holding a trident is located in the centre of the yard. In front of the loggia, beyond the yard, appears the rock which expels the intermittent source whose the water crosses Villa and then emerges in the lake through the arcade on the facade of the Villa.
A fully carved wooden spiral staircase leads from the ground floor to the suites on the upper floor. A comfortable lift connects all levels to the car park.
The ancient Villa Pliniana is shrouded in legends and mysteries. It was closed for many years and only recently became available for rent.
In 2018, the Dolce & Gabbana fashion event was held here.
