Admire British Racing Cars at FuoriConcorso 2024
On Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, FuoriConcorso returns to Lake Como. This event allows visitors to admire the most beautiful and successful racing cars built during Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The historic Villa del Grumello and Villa Sucota will showcase an exhibition of over 50 British racing cars, driven by legendary drivers such as Emerson Fittipaldi, Mika Häkkinen, Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Rubens Barrichello, Graham Hill, and Eddie Irvine. Ayrton Senna’s McLaren MP4/4 will also be on display, arriving directly from MAUTO – Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile di Torino, commemorating the famous driver thirty years after his tragic death on May 1 1994.
In addition, a Formula 1 starting grid will be set up with more than 15 cars parked in the gardens of the lakeside villas. Among the cars on display will be the iconic Lotus 72, which won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1972, and the McLaren in which Mika Häkkinen triumphed in 1999.
The event will feature numerous activities and experiences, including a car’s world premiere, photographic exhibitions, and the ‘Conversation Programmes’. These talks will allow participants to meet drivers, engineers, and key figures from the world of speed. Villa Sucota will be transformed into ‘Casa Aston Martin’, celebrating the historic English brand. The event will also showcase Porsche, with a dedicated area in the Greenhouse of Villa del Grumello, as well as Lotus with the electric hypercar Evija, and other luxury brands such as Gemballa, Pagani, and Koenigsegg.
For the duration of the weekend, there will be a wealth of music, tastings, and entertainment amidst the greenery, art, historic villas, gardens, and the glamour of Lake Como.
“Excellence, beauty, culture, and craftsmanship, achieved through commitment, tenacity, technology, and innovation, lead to victory. These are the founding values of FuoriConcorso,” – says Guglielmo Miani, creator of the event and president of Larusmiani.
“Each FuoriConcorso has a particular theme, which we feel it is useful to share with our community of collectors who follow us year after year on a path of knowledge and in-depth study of automotive culture,” – says the founder of FuiriConcorso, Guglielmo Miani. “Last year, the theme was “Aero”, while this year, the event title is “British Racing Green”, the official colour of international motor racing in the United Kingdom. In the 1950s and 1960s, British car manufacturers with racing teams such as Aston Martin, Cooper, Jaguar, Lotus, Lola, McLaren, Williams, and BRM dominated the Formula 1 and sports car championships with their British Racing Green cars. We want to remember those mythical feats, which still arouse vivid emotions today. The beauty of these cars and this colour is not “fashion” but pure “style”, timeless”.
