Name: Orticolario Cernobbio 2023: Exploring the Essence of Water

From September 28 to October 1, 2023, Orticolario, the annual event for flower lovers, will take place in the scenic park of Villa Erba in Cernobbio, overlooking the waters of Lake Como.

This autumn event is dedicated to nature and the new garden experiences. The theme of Orticolario this year is “The the sense of water”. From the depths of a tranquil lake to the calm flow of a karst river, and then onward to the tumultuous surge of waves: a journey against the current through the vital Water Landscape, towards which humanity has forfeited an inner, profound, genuine awareness.
The age-old alliance between humanity and water is a partnership both ancient and intimate, a reciprocal relationship of regeneration and destruction, a mesmerizing interplay of emotions and dynamism. The narrative of water and its landscape aligns with the world’s history, and a sense of attachment to these places moulds our conduct.

Each species shares a unique bond with water, from plants thriving in aquatic environments to those flourishing in arid ecosystems. Orticolario 2023 submerges us, leading the way, into the depths of this connection, traversing from water lilies to cacti and unveiling the diverse habitats that sustain these plants.

In addition to the competition, Orticolario offers a large exhibition of plants and flowers, including rare species. Organisers carefully selected the exhibitors on national and international levels. Furthermore, art installations, artistic crafts, workshops, shows, walks, educational and playful events for children and cultural shows are scheduled in one of the most beautiful villas on Lake Como.
