As the first light of summer touches the summit of Monte Bisbino, a unique musical encounter awaits those willing to greet the dawn. On Saturday 21st June, the Comune di Cernobbio and the Gruppo Caronte invite the public to “Tu mi fai girar – La canzone italiana ed il 45 giri”, a dawn concert celebrating the golden era of the Italian 45rpm record.
Set 1,325 metres above sea level, Monte Bisbino stands sentinel over Lake Como and the Lombardy region, its summit crowned by the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin. A site of pilgrimage, memory and breathtaking vistas, the mountain offers a natural amphitheatre for what promises to be a stirring tribute to Italian musical heritage.
The concert, open and free to all, blends voice, violin, cello and piano in a journey through the Italian musical landscape of the 20th century—an era spun on tiny vinyl discs that turned the nation’s soundtrack into a cultural legacy.
Gruppo Caronte, a collective of musicians and researchers known for curating performances that transcend traditional venues, continues its two-decade mission to deliver unforgettable live experiences in exceptional settings. Their productions are not mere concerts—they are cultural rituals stitched into the landscapes they inhabit.
Should the weather prove uncooperative, the performance will relocate to the cloister of the mountain’s sanctuary—a sacred and sheltered space that will preserve the intimacy of the event.
There is magic in watching the sun rise over Lake Como, but even more so when accompanied by the timeless echoes of Mina, Modugno and Morricone. Whether for the nostalgia, the nature or the notes, this is a morning not to miss.
