On Friday, 26 December, at 17:00, the Parrocchia di Santo Stefano in Menaggio will host the annual Christmas Concert featuring the celebrated Corpo Musicale di Loveno. Situated along the scenic shores of Lake Como, the event is set to be a highlight of the holiday season.
With a rich history spanning over 180 years, the Corpo Musicale di Loveno stands as a testament to the enduring cultural legacy of Lombardy. Established in 1843, the band has been a cornerstone of the region’s cultural and religious life, performing at ceremonies and significant local events. Despite two interruptions during the World Wars, the band has remained active, earning numerous accolades in band competitions across the region.
Under the guidance of Maestro Bruno Selva, the band, comprising approximately 50 musicians, will present a diverse programme that spans classical compositions, operatic works, and more modern pieces. The Corpo Musicale di Loveno’s versatility and skill ensure that each performance is a rich and dynamic experience, promising a musical journey that will captivate and inspire.
In 2011, the band was recognised as a Gruppo d’Interesse Comunale during the 150th Anniversary of Italy’s Unification, cementing its status as a significant part of Italy’s cultural heritage.
This concert at Menaggio offers an opportunity to witness the enduring musical excellence of one of Lombardy’s oldest and most respected bands.
