Step aboard a remarkable journey that transports you back in time with Trenord’s historic train service. This unique experience allows passengers to traverse the original four lines of the FERROVIENORD network, perfect for a delightful day trip from the bustling city of Milan. The routes will take you from Milano Cadorna to some of the region’s most picturesque destinations: Como Lago, nestled by the serene Lake Como; Laveno Mombello Lago, located by the stunning Lake Maggiore; Novara Nord, just beyond the Ticino River; and Assa, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Valassina mountains.
From 6 April to 9 November 2025, on selected Sundays, the Trenord historic train will depart from Milano Cadorna and Saronno. Passengers are invited to immerse themselves in a truly enchanting experience aboard this unique journey. As you travel to your destination, the train will be animated by performers dressed in period costumes. These artists will entertain passengers with theatrical performances and musical acts, evoking the charm and elegance of a bygone era.
For those journeying to Laveno Mombello Lago, you can look forward to the sounds of talented jazz musicians who will pay tribute to the music of the 1920s and 1930s. Their jazz-blues repertoire will include classic tunes and popular songs, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that enhances the scenic journey.
To fully embrace the spirit of the occasion, travellers are encouraged to don outfits inspired by the fashion of the 1920s and 1930s. This immersive touch adds to the authenticity of the experience, allowing passengers to feel as though they have stepped in another time.

The ticket, “A Como con il Treno Storico”, allows for a single round trip in second class on Trenord’s regular trains (excluding the Malpensa Express) and the historic train on the Milano Cadorna-Como Lago line.
This vintage train boasts a rich heritage of over 100 years, featuring three first-class AZ carriages constructed in 1924-25. The carriages have been meticulously restored, showcasing wooden interiors, cardinal red velvet seating, and charming window drapes, all of which evoke the elegance of train travel from a bygone era.
During the train’s stop at Como Lago from 15:00 to 16:00, the passenger carriage AZ 130 will be open for free visits without reservation. This offers an excellent opportunity for curious onlookers and enthusiasts at the station to explore this historic train.
