The dance season at Teatro Sociale of Como will begin on 24th October with a timeless classic: Giselle, one of the most beloved ballets worldwide and a symbol of Romanticism. This celebrated masterpiece will be brought to life by the Tbilisi State Ballet, one of Georgia’s most renowned companies, set to the beautiful and evocative music of Adolphe Adam.
This two-act ballet features a libretto by Théophile Gautier, Jules-Henri Saint-Georges, and Jean Coralli, based on a legend by Heinrich Heine. The choreography, created initially by Jules Perrot, Jean Coralli, and Marius Petipa, will be presented in a fresh version by Alexey Fadeechev and Nina Ananiashvili, adding a new layer to this iconic production.
Giselle remains a cornerstone of the ballet repertoire. It captures the essence of Romanticism with its themes of the conflict between dream and reality, lost illusions, and the yearning for an unattainable ideal.
