An encounter between art, music, and thought – with a toast to the new season.
A convivial event to welcome the upcoming music and theatre season through the lens of visual art, accompanied by an aperitif that invites reflection on the deep interconnections between the arts in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Set in the heart of Lugano, the event takes place at LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, the city’s major cultural centre and a key destination for lovers of opera, theatre, art, and classical music. With its striking architecture and lakefront location, LAC is a vibrant hub for Ticino’s cultural life.
As the aperitif hour approaches, philosopher Silvio Joller will guide us on a journey through the emotional landscapes of Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, drawing parallels with the works of Filippo Franzoni and Ferdinand Hodler, two Swiss artists at the heart of MASI’s upcoming exhibition (April–August 2025). The conversation then moves towards the introspective world of La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc, capturing the transition from realism to symbolism in both visual and performing arts.
The talk will conclude with an informal moment of exchange, accompanied by a relaxed aperitif – a perfect way to usher in the Lugano cultural season.
Raise a glass to the arts—past, present, and future.
